Nature’s fireworks are firing up again this afternoon over Northern New Jersey & parts of the Hudson Valley. Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Northern New Jersey

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Southwestern Morris County in northern New Jersey...
  East central Warren County in northwestern New Jersey...

* Until 245 PM EDT.

* At 157 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Hackettstown,
  or 12 miles south of Newton, and is nearly stationary.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is
           possible.

* Locations impacted include...
  Hackettstown, Washington, Oxford, Hope, Chester, Great
  Meadows-Vienna, Allamuchy-Panther Valley, Budd Lake, Long Valley,
  Beatyestown, Brass Castle and Beattyestown.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

In addition to large hail and damaging winds, frequent cloud to
ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors
immediately. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough
to be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

The visible satellite loop shows the thunderstorms blowing up again like they did yesterday afternoon but they seem to be a bit further north and west today. The issue will be whether any of these storms decide to sit over a particular area for a few hours creating flash flood conditions.

Like yesterday the thunderstorms should start to die off after 6-7pm and they should be gone for the most part around the time fireworks get underway at local shows after 9pm. Prepare for a repeat performance tomorrow.
