A Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until 11pm for Eastern Pennsylvania, All of of New Jersey except the extreme south, the Catskills and the Hudson Valley to and including NYC. We are seeing a developing squall line of thunderstorms now crossing Central Pennsylvania and it is moving eastward. There have already been numerous severe thunderstorm warnings that were issued to our west and we expect a few warnings to be issued when the thunderstorms arrive. You can expect them to cross in Eastern Pennsylvania between 8 and 9pm and then reaching eastern portions of New Jersey, the Hudson Valley to NYC after 9pm.
SATELLITE
WEATHER RADAR
The warnings show up as yellow boxes on the regional radar. These thunderstorms should weaken as they head into Connecticut and Long Island to some extent thanks to the south wind all day long. Temperatures were cooler to the east of NYC where many areas struggled to get out of the 50s. The atmosphere east of the watch area is more stable. Meanwhile with temperatures that reached mid to upper 70s in the watch area, the atmosphere is highly unstable. Once the storms move through weather conditions should improve and skies will clear out overnight and we will have a sunny but much colder day Tuesday.
