Mixed Cooler Weekend

We are watching a cold front approaching tonight from the west but it appears that the bulk of the severe weather that is developing this evening will be well to our west and north. Severe Thunderstorm & Tornado Watches are up for an area from Northwest Pennsylvania to Northeast NY & Western Vermont but those watches do not extend southward to us. We do see some scattered activity showing up on the local radars this evening but they are not developing into anything substantial.

One of the issues today was cloud cover this morning as this cut back on the daytime heating. Temperatures did make mid to upper 80s in New Jersey but from Northern New Jersey into the Hudson Valley Connecticut and Long Island temperatures did have a tough time getting out of the 70s. Also on the satellite picture tonight is disturbed weather east of the Bahamas which is associated with a weak surface low and an upper air trough The National Hurricane Center made mention of this today in a special tropical weather outlook and they see zero chance of this developing into a tropical system. However some of the moisture from this will try to move up the coast this weekend. The bulk will stay offshore.

Saturday to me looks like the better of the two weekend days with clouds and some sun and highs just in the low to mid 70s. Another weather front approaches on Sunday and this is going to put us in clouds and showers along with an onshore flow. Temperatures Sunday will be in the 50s to near 60 degrees.

This doesn’t look to be a big rain producer as showers will be on and off so there will be some dry periods. A shot of cool air comes in for the start of next week so we can say good bye to 90 and 80 degree temperatures for awhile. Sunshine and clouds will be around for Monday and there is the chance for a passing shower. Highs Monday will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Sunshine and nice weather will be here Tuesday and Wednesday of next week with highs in the 60s.
