Record Highs Near 80 Degrees Saturday Before Changes Get Underway Sunday
Our warm weather pattern continues in the Eastern US. Hurricane Tammy is now a post tropical system moving northward toward Bermuda and this is holding in the strong high pressure ridge along the east coast. Clouds from storm systems to the west are tracking to the north today so other than a patchy cloud or two coming in, we will see sunshine and highs this afternoon mostly in the 70s. Radars are nice and quiet and they are not an issue through Saturday.

Tonight skies should be mostly clear though we are getting to a point where some patchy fog might develop in some areas during the overnight. Lows by morning will be in the 50s inland and lower 60s in warmer urban locations. Friday will be a very warm day with sunshine taking highs into the mid and upper 70s. Some warm spots could touch 80. Some low hanging fruit new record highs are possible.
Saturday is going to be the warmest day and the last day of much above normal temperatures. We should see a good deal of sunshine for most of the day. A west wind will create some downslope heating and highs will reach the upper 70s and lower 80s. We could see some record highs taken out across Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England.
By Sunday the upper high will have weakened enough to allow a cold front to move east from the Great Lakes and Midwest to approach the coast. There will be some showers that will move along the frontal boundary. The leftover storm Tammy is going to be still out there in the Western Atlantic and this is a bit of a wild card as it may slow the front down as it nears,
There will be some showers moving east along the front but if the ridge off the east coast is a little stronger, the showers may want to track further north than advertised right now. We will put in the chance for showers later Saturday night and then on and off Sunday into Monday until the front finally passes. Temperatures Sunday will be cooler with lower 70s across Southern Pennsylvania and South Jersey but in the low to mid 60s from Northern New Jersey to Long Island and Southern New England.
There are some questions regarding Monday and Tuesday because the front will pass offshore but get hung up and some models are pointing to another wave and another round of rain for Monday night and Tuesday along with much colder temperatures.for Tuesday and Wednesday. We will be attempting to work out this puzzle in the coming days.
