Rainfall Forecast Amouts Through Tuesday Eastern Pa New Jersey
Published Sunday 8/21/22
This system for tonight into Tuesday will produce a more widespread rain than we have seen in many weeks. It will do little to alleviate the near drought conditions but it is a start. Amounts from Northeastern Pennsylvania to Northern New Jersey and the Hudson Valley should be on the order of an inch to an inch and a half.
Amounts in Southern New Jersey will be a bit less and on the order of a half inch to an inch. Thunderstorms that develop in the mix will perhaps cause amounts to be 50-100% higher and that could lead to some localized flash flooding.
Rainfall develops tonight ahead of a warm front and the map above is for 2am Monday morning which shows much of the area under rain and with some heavier downpours. Once the warm front goes by we will left with clouds and showery rains around Monday along with a few heavier downpours. Temperatures Monday will be in the 70s to near 80 thanks to more clouds and some rain. Some scattered thundertorms could be in the mix. Some showers will linger into early Tuesday before weather conditions begin to improve.
