Rain Continues Evening Rush Hour
Rainfall so far across the area has been in line with model forecasts which is great. Eastern Long Island which has the biggest rainfall deficit in the area of a foot and a half of rain is getting a nice 2 inch plus rainfall. These numbers are as of 2pm Monday.
MONDAY RAIN TOTALS AS OF 2PM
While western areas in Pennsylvania are easing their way out of the rain, it continues right now over Central and Southern New Jersey and over Eastern Long Island. While the general area is pushing northeastward it is also slowly weakening over time. At some point the rain will begin to dry up. Enough is there however for some additional amounts through this evening’s rushing hour drive.
Weather conditions will slowly improve over night but it will be rather cloudy and there will be some fog developing in some areas especially near the coast. Tuesday we should transition over to partly sunny skies with temperatures in the 80s and relatively uncomfortable humidity. Wednesday and Thursday look warm with highs in the 80s but the humidity levels will be lower.
The next cold front will usher in the coolest air mass of the young Autumn season so far beginning Saturday afternoon and lasting into Monday. The front for the most part comes through dry so this is the last shot of rain for us for at least a week.
