Rain With A Little Wet Snow Tonight
We have a weak cold front coming through tonight and there is colder air behind it. We will probably see some showers with that and once the front passes, there could be some wet snow in the mix but it won’t amount to anything and nothing is going to accumulate given the precipitation should be light.
Satellite loop shows the system moving across the Great Lakes. The southern part of the system is going to split away from it back through Texas and the Western Gulf of Mexico.

Temperatures tonight will settle in the 30s with some lower 30s by morning in colder areas north and north west of the warmer coastal urban centers.
Wednesday once we get through some early clouds we will see some sunshine with temperatures holding in the 30s to around 40. It will turn a little colder Wednesday night with lows in the 20s. Thursday we will see that southern system come out to the northeast and off the southeast coast of the United States. A separate system will be moving across the Great Lakes. Since the upper features here are not going to phase in time, the coastal low should remain offshore and pose no issues for us. Thursday should be nothing worse than a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the 30s. Friday will be cold and dry with some sunshine and most highs in the 30s to around 40.
Longer range the next major storm is heading for the Great Lakes which is good news and not so good news. The good news is that I’m betting we see 60 for a brief time when the storms cold front approaches here Tuesday night and Wednesday of next week. The not so good news (or good news if you like winter weather) is that the overall pattern longer term still looks extremely volatile and open to all sorts of possibilities down the road. I will expand on this later this evening.
