Rain Snow Showers Overnight Strong Storm Wind Rain Thunderstorms Christmas Eve
For most of the area it actually turned out to be a decent afternoon with some sunshine breaking through the clouds. Next in line is a cold front and low pressure dropping southeast from the Great Lakes. To the east we have a low that has developed offshore. Nothing major is coming out of this system tonight. It will only be a minor nuisance with rain and snow showers and little if any accumulation is forecast if your area happens to get snow showers.

We have switched to the interactive ZOOM radar that defaults to rain and snow echos on the radar with current temperatures but you can use the tools on the left to add or subtract all sorts of options including watches and warnings among other choices
Temperatures overnight will likely hold in the 30s. Tuesday we will see clouds eventually break up and some sunshine should develop. Highs will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Wednesday looks nice with sunshine most of the day. Highs will be in the upper 30s to some lower 40s.
The Nam model tonight looks like something out of March or April. A strong cold front nears on Thursday. Winds will increase from the south and become strong to gale force especially along the coast. Showers with some heavy downpours will develop and then as the cold front nears the coast Thursday night, look for a line of thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center is not indicating severe weather risks at this time but it would not surprise me if we wind up with a severe thunderstorm in the mix Thursday night.
Once the front passes temperatures, which will be up close to or even over 60 degrees before the front passes will drop into the 30s and hold there for most of Christmas Day. I don’t see a change to snow before ending. It just happens too fast and 9 times out of 10 in cases like this the rain just usually shuts off. Christmas will be a windy cold day. Wind advisories are possible ahead of the front on Thursday and behind the front later Thursday night and Christmas Day. Some sunshine should develop though and that should take the sting out of the air. Friday night into Saturday will be very cold with lows in the teens to low 20s. The weekend looks dry with some sunshine for Saturday and for part of Sunday. Highs Saturday will be just into the 30s. Sunday highs will be in the 30s to near 40.
