Rain Overnight Monday Cool Week Ahead

Today will be a battle between the dry air to the north and the frontal boundary to the south. The cloud line this morning on the visible satellite picture lying across New York City and Northern New Jersey. That line should shift a little south later this morning into this afternoon before moving back northward later this afternoon and this evening. Temperatures are much cooler today with temperatures mostly in the 60s. The onshore flow is thanks to high pressure moving off the New England coast. To the south we have a low in Maryland/Northeast Virginia. That low will move northeast tonight and Monday.

On the radar this morning we see a large area of heavy rain across Virginia and parts of Central Pennsylvania. The are is rotating counterclockwise around an upper air low center sitting in Eastern Virginia. Flooding is possible from some of these rains. Flood Watches continue for Virginia and Maryland but they have been cancelled for Southern New Jersey & Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Tonight look for rain everywhere moving southwest to northeast as the Virginia system moves northeast. Rain will last into the morning before it moves out. Temperatures tonight will be in the 50s and highs Monday will be in the 60s. Tuesday brings the next weather system with clouds and sun and the chance for showers or a thunderstorm late in the day with highs in the 70s . We have a cold front moving through Tuesday night followed by another cool air but dry air mass for Wednesday through Friday. The second half of next week looks nice and sunny with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.
