Rain Late Tonight Friday Morning Rain Saturday Some Improvement Sunday
We enjoyed a nice sunny day for the most part though parts of Eastern Pennsylvania did sit in clouds for most of the day until late afternoon. Temperatures found their way into the 50s and some inland spots did manage to hit 60 today. We advised yesterday that we are in a weather pattern where sunny days like this will interrupt a rather busy west to east weather pattern so when they do happen you should take advantage. With everyone stuck at home we certainly hope you did.

Clouds will be rolling in tonight and we have a weak low on a cold front that is headed our way with an area of rain from the Great Lakes. Look for this rain to move through during the early morning hours Friday and then lingering around toward daybreak or shortly afterwards. Then we will see some improvement with clouds and some breaks of sunshine. Highs will be in the upper 50s to middle 60s.
On to the weekend and we see no major changes in our earlier outlook. Saturday looks like the washout day with cloudy skies and rain that develops in the morning. North and northeast of NYC a little sleet or even a wet snowflake or two could be in the mix early. A warm front will be to our south and it will struggle to move northward.
Struggling warm fronts means we will be struggling with temperatures. My suspicion is we will be in the 40s to lower 50s during the day Saturday and then temperatures will hold there or even raise Saturday night as the warm front tries to go by.
Sunday should bring some improvement with variable clouds with some breaks of sun but there could be a few showers. Temperatures will be in a wide range as it will depend on cloud cover. Upper 50s to lower 60s in the areas surrounding NYC seems fair but areas in Southern New Jersey and Southern Pennsylvania should see highs reach into the 70s.
A cold front will be moving through and colder air follows for early next week. We are coming to the end of the month of March and average highs are now reaching the mid and upper 50s. We will be slightly below that with clouds and some sun with a gusty wind on Monday. There might even be the chance for a passing shower.
The upper air pattern next week is rather blocky which if it were back in January or February would have snow lovers foaming at the mouth. This is the end of March and a pattern like this is cool. Tuesday will be dry with sunshine and arriving clouds. Weather models are showing a low coming out of the Southern Plains into the Appalachians and then redeveloping off the Delaware coast. This will put us into a cold rain and gusty northeast wind for Wednesday. The blocky nature of the pattern would normally favor snow back a few weeks ago. Right now it would have to be just perfect for something to happen involving the white stuff.
