Well we can say good bye to the recent 4 day stretch (almost 5 in some places) as clouds have rolled in, thickened up and now we have rain coming up from the south. The satellite picture below shows the mositure plume from the Atlantic northwestward into the Ohio Valley. Right now it appears that rain will last into the morning hours before tapering off to showers later in the day. Rainfall amounts of about an inch to an inch and a half seem likely.

Regional radar shows an area of developing rain from off the Delaware coast northwestward into Pennsylvania moving northeastward. Three are some heavier downpours embedded in the mix.

We are beginning to see rain appearing on the local radars as well. Look for activity to increase during the overnight and be an issue during the Wednesday morning commute.

Weather conditions should improve on Thursday with partly sunny skies with temperatures into the 60s. Then the next low moves up the coast with the chance for some rain later Friday into early Saturday. Weather conditions should improve after that over the weekend.

Next week we could see some warmer days to start off the month of May. A ridge of high pressure will build in the Eastern US aloft which will allow warmer air to move in. By warmer we mean temperatures in the 70s and possibly the 80s for a couple of days. There is a low to the east in the Atlantic which is helping to build that upper high in the East but it is a delicate balance here and a back door front needs to be watched for as they can sometimes sneak in from the northeast. Right now we will lean on the side of warmth and watch this pattern evolve over the next few days.
