Rain Exits On To Summer Friday Through Sunday Highs Reaching 90s

A warm front cold front combination moved from west to east overnight and is now making its exit to the northeast. Leftover clouds behind the low will start to pull away to the northeast but from NYC eastward it will be a bit of a struggle to see genuine improvement today. There we will see highs probably not get out of the 60s especially across Southern, Southeastern New England and Long Island. However south of NYC, Philadelphia, Central & South Jersey southward, some sunshine will break through the clouds and highs in these areas will reach into the 80s. Rain is mostly done on the radar to the southwest but northeast of NYC it will take a little more time. There it should be gone by midday.

Skies should be clear tonight with lows in the 50s. On to Friday where inland areas are going to warm up to the mid 80s to near 90 degrees. Along the Immediate coast from New Jersey to Long Island including NYC highs will be about 10 degrees lower. This is due to the fact that we will have a south southeast wind off the ocean and that will be holding temperatures down along the coast, but will have less if any impact well inland.

We will have plenty of sunshine Friday and the humidity will be somewhat reasonable. That south southeast wind Friday will bring some low level moisture in, raising dew points into the 60s on Saturday. Now we will turn the wind to the southwest and that means everyone warms up. Sunshine Saturday will take highs to the low and middle 90s in many areas inland. Even coastal areas will reach 85 to 90 degrees.

The next cold front was due to come through late Sunday or Sunday night however it continues to slow down. The upper high off the East Coast is stronger than advertised. This puts us in a hot humid day for Sunday with sunshine. Highs will be in the low to mid 90s. Thunderstorms are possible in the evening and Sunday night but I think they will be mostly inland as the front slows down to a crawl.

There might be some severe weather risk Sunday evening well inland but probably not along the coastal plain. The front staggers through on Monday and we will need to see if a wave is required with a period of rain to get the front through or will it simply just sag southward as high pressure starts to build in from the Northwest. Sunday should be the last very hot day. Things will cool down back to average during next week and then eyes point to the Memorial Day holiday weekend. We talked about it yesterday on our Weather in 10 and we will begin to address it more seriously on our next weather in 10 video Saturday.
