Rain Ends Followed By Colder Air Frosts Freezes Into Thursday Morning

We are waiting for a cold front push its way through and offshore. Low pressure is moving northeastward into New England. The rain we see on the radar will be gradually shifting to the east and offshore. Once this happens we will go to leftover clouds later today. This weather front that is pushing through marks the leading edge of colder air that will be with us beginning tonight and lasting into Thursday.

As for today’s high temperatures, like yesterday they will have a wide range. Southern New Jersey and points southward will reach into the 70s today. Northern New Jersey to the Hudson Valley and Southern New England will be in the 50s. In between NYC Long Island and Philadelphia to Central New Jersey it will be in the 60s.

From here it will be about colder air coming in Monday night. The front will be offshore but not far offshore. Cold air will push in but there will be clouds around along the coast and hanging back inland. This is likely to hold temperatures up some especially near the coast and in warmer urban locations.

Tuesday is going to be a cold day with clouds around. Low pressure developing offshore on the old cold front will bring rain close to the coast of Coastal New Jersey and Long Island Tuesday afternoon and evening but this system is actually the mechanism to bring in the coldest of the cold air mass. Highs Tuesday will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and Wednesday night into Thursday morning will be the coldest mornings with lows in the 20s inland and mostly 30s along the coast. Wednesday will be the coldest day with sunshine and highs not out of the 40s. Thursday we will also see plenty of sunshine and highs will be back to the upper 40s and lower 50s. We exepct temperatures to moderate Friday and into the weekend and right now we can say it looks to be dry at least through Saturday.
