Severe Weather Risk Sunday Afternoon

Weekend Raw Rainy Saturday Slow Improvement Sunday Chilly Next Week

We are struggling with a warm front tonight that brought clouds and rain today. We see lots of clouds around tonight and we have more issues to deal with into Sunday. The warm front is going to be very stubborn moving northward and this is going to impact temperatures which will go from the 40s in Southern New England to the 70s in Maryland and Virginia and maybe even reaching Southern Pennsylvania. Everyone else will be dealing with low clouds light rain or drizzle.

Heavy rain on the regional radar is moving throuhg Pennsylvania and into New Jersey tonight. We have also seen a few embedded thunderstorms in the mix though those cells seem to be weakening as the area slides eastward. To the north in Southern New England and Long Island as well as the Hudson Valley it is on and off light rain or drizzle.

Sunday we will fight the low clouds drizzle and fog from Northeastern Pennsylvania to Northern New Jersey north and east. South of Route 195 the warm front may make it. This actually sets up an area of severe weather risk for Sunday.

Weather conditions will be slow to improve Sunday night and Monday thanks to this low taking its sweet time moving across New England and off the Maine coast. This will put us in variable clouds with some breaks of sun Monday and the chance for a passing shower. Monday’s highs will be in the 50s to near 60. That shower threat could also be around Monday night as a trough swings around from a coastal low well to the east.

Tuesday and Wednesday high pressure will be slowly building southward and that should force the next low from the Southern Plains to pass well to our south and east on Wednesday. Both Tuesday and Wednesday should be cool with cloud issues and highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s.
