Rain Blocked But Clouds Remain Stubborn
Looking at the satellite and radar loops this afternoon we see a rather large area of rain but we also see the rain blocked from moving northward thanks to that upper air storm off the New England coast. Instead we continue to deal with clouds rotating back westward from the upper storm to the northeast and the clouds from the system to the south. So it is more of the same for the next 2 days before we deal with the rain and some coastal winds for Saturday into Sunday morning.

Temperatures are struggling and they will continue to struggle thanks to the clouds and the ocean wind. Tonight we will see some clouds around and another cool night with temperatures in the 40s. Friday we will have clouds from the east and clouds from the west to deal with but some sun should break through from time to time. A wind off the ocean will keep temperatures cool again. Highs will just be in the mid 50s along the coast to some lower 60s inland.
Rain will be the story on Saturday as it spreads northward from New Jersey to Southern New England. 1 to 3 inches will fall across the entire region. All the rain from the last few months has wiped out the drought with just 2 areas in yellow where conditions are dry but no longer excessive. The weekend rain could wipe out these remaining areas. The drought is over.
