Rain Arrives Friday Chilly Weekend Ahead Active Long Range Pattern Tropics To Rev Up Again
Weather in 5 Thursday October 15, 2020
We have another nice day of weather ahead of us as the satellite picture shows clouds to the northwest as a warm front passes through Western NY and heads northward. It will be a warm Thursday with sunshine for most of the day and just some passing high clouds. Highs this afternoon should reach the low to mid 70s. There are no issues today on the radar as showers with the cold front are well to the north and west of us.
SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
The cold front that is coming will reach us overnight with just some clouds and then it stalls up and down the coast. Energy swinging around from an upper trough over the Great Lakes will cause a wave to develop on Friday,
Rain will start to develop virtually overhead Friday morning and spread northward. It looks like we will see rain into Friday night and then it should come to an end from west to east during the early morning hours on Saturday. Temperatures will settle in the 60s along the coast and into the 50s inland as the wave develops and pulls down colder air from the north.
Rainfall amounts from this could be on the order of an inch to an inch and a half in some places making it the third substantial rain event in the last 2 weeks. This at least makes a dent in some of the serious dry/drought conditions that exist in parts of the Northeast.
Saturday shapes up to be a cool breezy day with clouds giving way to sunshine but temperatures are going to be hard pressed to get out of the 50s all day. Then we head down into the mid to upper 30s inland and low to mid 40s coastal and urban areas for Sunday morning.
This is going to be another quick shot of chilly air as the next high moves out to the east and winds go southwest ahead of another cold front. Sunday should see sunshine with perhaps some late day clouds. highs will be back into the low and mid 60s.
Monday’s cold front weakens as high pressure builds aloft off the East Coast. That front will lay over us Monday into Tuesday with clouds along with some scattered showers. Highs both days will be in the 60s. We are looking at the tropics revving up again with 2 possible systems developing next week. One will be in the Atlantic southeast of Bermuda that could head westward. The other in the Western Caribbean that will likely move northward. We will address this later today on my subscription platform on Patreon.
