Warmer Next Week Comes With Some Wind

A weather front is inching its way through the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states today and it will leave us in lots of clouds for much of the day. There may be a few rain showers to get through into the early afternoon but we should see weather conditions improve afterwards. Low pressure developing on the front offshore will bring down colder air but we should see highs today in the 40s to around  50 degrees. Radars are still showing some activity for us to get through before clouds begin to decrease.

Winds will turn northwest and skies should clear out nicely overnight. Saturday morning lows across Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England will be in the upper 20s inland and low to mid 30s along coastal and warmer urban areas. Saturday will be a day of some self destrucitve sunshine and clouds as an upper trough moves through. A gusty wind will put an extra chill in the air though temperatures while cold, won’t be anything crazy. Highs will be in the 30s to around 40 degrees.

We will throw in the chance for a rain shower or two but the best chances for this will be across South Jersey, Southern Pennsylvania and points southward. Otherwise skies should clear out Saturday. The coldest air will come overnight into Sunday morning where lows will bottom in the teens to lower 20s.

The core of the cold air moves out rather quickly Sunday morning as winds turn to the southwest. We will see sunshine for Sunday. Temperatures Sunday afternoon will be in the upper 30s to around 40 around NYC and points north and northwest but to the south of there, we should see highs reach into the lower 40s by late afternoon.

Next week sets up for above normal temperatures all week long. Storms in the Western US will be taking tracks well to our north so and once such storm will move out of the Rockies to the Northern Plains and then into the Western Great Lakes. This storm system will take most of the week to move eastward and we will be dealing with a warm front approaching Wednesday and a rather strong cold front approaching Thursday.

Spring-like conditions will develop as we will have some sunshine Monday with a southwest winds. Highs will be in the 50s. Tuesday we will see a warm front set up to the south so clouds will increase with highs in the reaching the 60s inland and 50s to near 60 coast.

Some showers will develop late in the southwest and then they will head northeastward so look for some rain later Tuesday night thorugh at least part of Wednesday. Then we wait for the cold front to bring showers and perhaps a thunderstorm late Wednesday and Wednesday night.. Highs Wednesday will be in the 60s. Starting Tuesday, we will see winds begin to pick up as the gradient begins to tighten between high pressure offshore and the lower pressures to the west. By Wednesday winds will be running at 25 to 35 mph from the southwest with gusts probably higher. For now it appears the gradient will not get super tight to produce advisory level criteria for winds but it will be close so we will monitor this closely. Weather conditions will improve Thursday as the front moves offshore but temperatures will still be in the 50s for highs. Another colder shot of air follows for Friday and into next weekend.
