Partly Sunny Cooler Wednesday Mother’s Day Cloudy Some Rain Likely
A cold front has moved through and will slowly move southward today. There is a band of clouds that likes along and north of the cold front but that band should sink southward to a certain extent today. I’ve been basically drawing a line across Central New Jersey from east to west cutting the state in half. North of that line (Roughly around Route 195) it should be partly sunny and to the south of that line it will be mostly cloudy. The wind will be from the northeast today which means temperatures will be about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than yesterday except at the coast where temperatures will be about even with yesterday. Most highs will be in the 60s.

Radars are relatively quiet with a few showers well offshore and a few sprinkles across parts of Pennsylvania and that is about it as far as any rain is concerned for today. Tonight and Thursday the onshore flow strengthens which means more clouds developing with temperatures settling in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Thursday we see lots of clouds with highs just in the 50s with a little patchy light rain or drizzle. Thursday night into Friday a warm front goes by followed by a cold front. I;m throwing in a chance for a couple of showers late Thursday night and the chance for a shower or thunderstorm on Friday. However it seems that the approaching front looks weaker and much of the shower activity will likely occur well to the north and west of the coast. Temperatures on Friday will reach the 70s inland with 60s along the coast.
Friday’s cold front stalls out and another wave develops and moves northeast to the Ohio Valley but Saturday should be okay with some sunshine and temperatures in the 60s to near 70. The issue for Sunday continues to be one about timing, Mother’s Day sees that low heading for lower Ohio or West Virginia and then redeveloping nearby. Clouds will roll on Saturday night and rain looks to come in a little faster Sunday by arriving in the late morning or afternoon from south to north. An onshore wind means temperatures will likely setting in the 50s especially once rain arrives. This system plays through Sunday night into Monday morning and then taper off and end later in the day. Next week looks complicated with a couple of weather systems moving along in this busy pattern. Hopefully we can squeeze out a couple of nice days in between.
