Oppressive Heat Humidity Breaking For A Few Days

Cold Front Breaks Oppressive Heat Humidity

MIXED LABOR DAY WEEKEND AS HEAT RETURNS MONDAY

A weak cold front is edging its way through the area today. Winds have gone around to the north though they are on the light side. This has caused the dew points to ease somewhat in New Jersey and the Hudson Valley. Urban centers around NYC as well as Long Island and Coastal Connecticut however are still seeing dew points in the oppressive 70s but we should see these dew points ease as well. Temperatures are not rising as quickly today as they were yesterday as some slightly drier and cooler air bleeds in. We should still reach the upper 80s to low 90s on what should be the last day oppressive heat humidity at least for 2 days.

The satellite loop shows clouds to the north gradually moving southward. The radars are quiet at the moment. We could see an isolated shower or thunderstorm pop up up this afternoon or evening but the front should come through without making too much noise.

opppressive heat humidity

Friday and Saturday look to be mostly cloudy with the onshore flow. The front looks to be relatively benign as it lays to our south. A few passing showers could develop but they shouldn’t be too problematic the next 2 days. Most areas may not see much of anything and there even could breaks of sunshine. The humidity eases enough to give us a sense of relief but it won’t last because the high gradually moves offshore. Sunday it will turn warm and more humid with highs in the 80s. We will throw in the chance for a thunderstorm for both Sunday and Monday. Monday it becomes hot and humid again with some sunshine and highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s. It won’t be picture perfect this weekend but it will be okay for much of the time for you to enjoy the last weekend of the vacation season.
