One Last Day of Sun & Warmth Showers Late Tonight Into Friday

Colder Pattern Over the Weekend & Next Week

We have one more day of warm weather to enjoy but as always this time of year, the cold ocean will play a role and how high everyone gets. Winds today will gradually become south or even south southeast and that is not conducive to temperatures shooting up so there will be a cap on how high we get today, especially in areas with south and east facing shorelines like the Jersey coast, Long Island, and coastal Southern and Southeastern New England. We should have mostly sunny skies but some clouds will likely come into the mix late today. Highs should reach into the 70s inland, west and southwest but it will be at least 10 degrees lower in areas to the east as indicated. Radars are going to be nice and quiet today.

We have a wave of low pressure coming out of the Midwest and heading into New England tonight and Friday and this will push a warm front northward tonight into Friday morning and a cold front that follows during the day Friday. There will be some showers overnight into Friday morning mostly in Upstate NY and New England but we will see some showers during the day Friday as these fronts play through.

With clouds and showers around, temperatures are going to be lower than today so look for highs mostly in the 60s with some exceptions. East of NYC in Southern, Southeastern New England and Long Island it will likely be in the 50s all day. In South Jersey, Southern Pennsylvania and points southward we could see highs reaching 70 or so before a cold front moves through later in the day.

Any showers will end Friday night and Saturday will be a dry day with a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the 50s. Another cold front arrives Sunday and this front doesn’t appear to have much with it other than clouds and a scattered shower or two as it goes by but does have colder air behind it. Saturday and Sunday highs will be in the 50s. Much colder air arrives for the start of next week with temperatures running 5 or more degrees below average but this time of year, that means highs will be in the 40s. No storms are on the horizon so we will be rain free for much if not all of next week.
