Ocean Low Clouds Moving Westward Halloween Rain Weekend Chill

After a beautiful Monday of sunshine we are now watching ocean low clouds backing in from the east. This is a combination of yesterday’s storm well to the east and a strong high building over Nova Scotia. This is creating an easterly flow which will be with us into Thursday. This is all part of a warm front developing to the south ahead of Thursday’s storm system which is destined to head to the Great Lakes. Clouds will increase from east to west tonight with most lows in the 40s to lower 50s. The radars are quiet for the time being.

Tuesday will bring us a lot of clouds. The easterly flow will bring in some patchy light rain or drizzle from time to time. The best chances for this will be later in the day or more than likely Tuesday night. Between the clouds and the patchy rain, temperatures will be lower with most highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Wednesday our winds will start to bed more to the south and southwest later in the day which will allow temperatures to warm up some. We will have clouds around. Some breaks of sun are possible but there is still the chance for some patchy light rain or drizzle and perhaps even a shower or two. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s.

On to Thursday as low pressure from the Rockies comes out of the Plains and heads to the Great Lakes. The Gulf of Mexico will be open for business and we will likely see moisture from a disturbance in the Central Gulf get drawn into this storm as it heads northeastward.

Showery rains from shooting northeastward will arrive early Thursday morning. Then we get a break and the cold front with the developing low will swing eastward and bring some heavy showers and maybe even a rumble or two of thunder later Thursday and Thursday night.

Rainfall from this system will be heavy but this time around the heavier rain will be a little further north than the last event from Sunday. 1-2 inches of rain are still possible especially north and west of the coast.

This storm system brings down chilly air beginning Friday and lasting through the weekend. We will see leftover clouds on Friday with a gusty wind and leftover highs into the 60s but for Saturday and Sunday daytime highs will be struggling in the low to mid 50s Saturday and upper 40s and lower 50s on Sunday. We should see some sunshine developing later Friday and at least some sun over the weekend although there will be some clouds around on both days. Upstate NY might see some light lake effect action over the weekend reminding us that the winter season draws closer with each passing day.
