Nice Weather Today Through Monday Labor Day, No Rain Though Hot by Monday
We are watching Tropical Storm Idalia exiting to the northeast off the North Carolina coast. The last of the heavy rain in Southeast Virginia and Eastern North Carolina will move offshore. High clouds from Idalia will be nearby mainly from NYC and Philadelphia south. To the north of this line it is mostly sunny today. South of that line it will be partly suny to mostly cloudy but those high clouds will move out this afternoon. Very dry air is being brought southward into the Eastern US so we have very low humidity today with highs in the low to middle 70s!

There are no changes in the outlook for Friday, the weekend, and the first part of next week. Idalia is likely to meander off the coast with a general heading toward Bermuda. How much of the storm will be left remains to be seen. It will probably look more like a zombie-cane where there will be a circulation but not much in the way of convection, at least through the weekend.
Idalia is blocked from moving east thanks to Hurricane Franklin, Tropical Storm Jose which formed overnight, and high pressure to the north as a large ridge builds into the Eastern US. This puts us in the sweet spot of sunshine Friday through Monday so it will be a matter of figuring out temperatures and humidity from day to day. Friday highs will be in the 70s to around 80 degrees and humidity levels will remain low.
Humidity levels will come up slowly over the weekend. Saturday will still be nice and dry with plenty of sunshine. Highs will reachi into the 80s in most places. Temperatures will likely be a little cooler at the beaches. No showers or thunderstorms are forecast anywhere.
Sunday we will begin to see temperatures heading higher and humidity will rise as well. Highs Sunday will be in the mid to upper 80s with plenty of sunshine. Once again there will be nothing in the way of rain. Monday will be hot and humid with lots of sunshine. Highs will reach the upper 80s and lower 90s.
It appears the hot and mostly rain free weather will continue Tuesday and Wednesday. We will keep a side eye on Idalia and see what that does given the blocky nature of the pattern. Some models want to bring the storm northwestward toward Cape Cod and Southeastern New England later next week. For now that is just something of interest we will keep in the back of our forecast minds.
