Nice Weather Continues While Humberto Nears Bermuda Category 3 120 MPH Winds
We are somewhat sandwiched between Hurricane Humberto which is getting very close to Bermuda and High Pressure to the north in Northern New England. Let’s throw an upper trough that is dropping southward from Nova Scotia to New England and the result is a party sunny cool day with a nice northeast breeze. Temperatures are in the 60s to some lower 70s for this afternoon. we have no issues to worry about other than these patchy clouds. Dry air extends south into North Carolina and the regional radar is silent and will remain so for quite awhile as head toward and through this coming weekend.

REGIONAL RADAR
Hurricane Humberto is now less than 150 miles from Bermuda and closing in. Gales are spreading over the island and it appears that the core of the hurricane should pass north of the island by about 60 miles or so. This will likely give them a glancing blow of the core of the hurricane for a few hours before Humberto turns more to the northeast or north northeast away from the island on Thursday. At this point waves and rip currents will start to spread to our shorelines creating rough ocean conditions and higher than normal tides going into this weekend though coastal flooding should be minor.
There are no changes going forward through the weekend. Not a drop of rain is forecast and other than the occasional cloud, the weather will continue to be terrific. Skies will be clear tonight with cool lows in the 40s inland and low to mid 50s along the coast. Look for Mostly sunny skies on Thursday with highs reaching the upper 60s and lower 70s.
By Friday the high in New England settles in the Middle Atlantic states so our great weather continues with mostly sunny skies and highs back in the mid to upper 70s. With the high moving off the coast this weekend and the next cold front not due until Monday, we will see warmer and somewhat more humid conditions over the weekend though it will by no means get oppressive. This will be a great beach weekend for the last weekend of summer. Sunshine is forecast for Saturday and Sunday with no chance for rain. Highs both days will be back into the 80s.
An upper trough will arrive late Sunday night into early Monday morning with a few showers before we go to a mix of sun and clouds Monday with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s. A cold front will pass Monday night with not much with it and then it turns cooler on Tuesday.
