New Year’s Eve Brings Some Rain Improving Weather New Year’s Day
This month of December 2022 much to the surprise of most of you will actually finish slightly below average temperature wise but we are going out on a warm note. The satellite loop shows clouds moving from the Great Lakes to Northern New England as they move around the top of a ridge along the East Coast. This leaves us in a good place with a west to southwest wind, sunshine, and temperatures that will reach the mid 50s to some lower 60s this afternoon. There are no issues on the radar at all today and tonight. Lows tonight will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s with clear skies give way to arriving clouds by morning.

WEATHER RADAR
Saturday New Year’s Eve we have a weak storm system coming up from the south and passing across Upstate NY and New England. Ahead of this we will have warm weather conditions but clouds and more of a south wind will likely keep temperatures a little lower with highs mostly in the 50s.
Rain will develop from south to north during afternoon hours and continue through the evening Saturday. Everything is moving along so look for the rain to come to an end from west to east as the low moves away. Except for parts of Southern and Southeastern New England, the rain should be mostly over with before midnight and the ball drop, or whatever your local town is dropping at midnight!
Rainfall amounts will be on the order of a quarter to at most a half inch in some places which is really no big deal. Sunday we will see weather conditions improve as the low moves way. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny Sunday with highs in the warm 50s to around 60 degrees.

Looking ahead to next week we are going to see the next cold front with the chance for showers later Tuesday into Wednesday. It will turn colder behind that front and we will have to see whether the front stalls along the East Coast leading to another wave of low pressure that develops for the end of next week.
