New England Ski Resorts This Weekend

New England Ski Resorts This Weekend

New England Ski Resorts unlike last year are having a much tougher time as the weather pattern has pretty much shut down the natural snow making. We have a departing storm exiting Northern New England tonight. Some decent snows have fallen in the Green and White Mountains over the last 24 hours. Up to 8 inches is forecast for most of interior Northern Maine and lesser amounts in Northern New Hampshire and Vermont.

This may be the last chance for snowfall for awhile as there are no storms forecast to head that far north. Low pressure moving up the coast early next week will only impact the coast if at all. Over the next 10 days weather conditions appear unfavorable for any important snowfall. As the 10 day snowfall forecast map shows, the snow you see on it is mainly front loaded from the snows that are occuring now.

Out west on the other hand it is a bonaza of snow over the next 10 days. From the Rockies to the coast it is 1 to 2 foot snows or more. There are at least 2 major storms that will impact the region. In particular is one that is forecast to come in later next week across Northern California that could wind up being a serious snow producer. And there could be another storm behind that one as well. The strong Pacific subtropical jet stream and the strong el nino are doing a good job of burying western areas of the United States in lots of snow and there is no change in that pattern evident as we move into mid December.
