Memorial Day Weekend Is Here & It Is 3 Dry Days With Some Sunshine
We have arrived at getway day and this Friday will be a good way to send you off to your destination for the Memorial Day holiday weekend or perhaps you are just staying locally. Whatever you are doing or getting ready to do, this getaway day is a good one. In fact we are going to see a rare Memorial Day holiday weekend in that, as the gfs loop above shows, we are going to have nice weather for the next 4 days.
This was indeed the perfect time for a large sprawling high pressure area to blanket itself across the Great Lakes and Northeast. It not only holds through the next Monday, but it will successfully keep low pressure developing off the Southeast US Coast from moving all the way up the East Coast. So lets start with today which will be a sunny Friday with an wind from the east. That will keep coastal highs in the 60s and inland highs should reach the lower 70s.
SATELLITE
WEATHER RADAR
Radars are nice and clear and the satellite shows mainly clear skies so the only concern this weekend, and it is a minor one, is whether high clouds get in the way of sunshine from time to time. The best chances for that will be further south so if you are headed for Southern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, or you live in those areas, you may see high clouds from time to time over the weekend.
If you are looking for a summery weekend with temperatures that would be perfect for the beach and swiming, with this we fall a bit short. Winds for much of the time Saturday through Monday will be from the southeast or south and that is going to keep things rather cool at the shore. Highs will be in the 60s along the coast at the beaches through Monday. Inland highs Saturday will be in the low to mid 70s.
We will start to see temperatures nudge higher Sunday especially as you go north as there will be some clouds as you head south so highs Sunday, and we will call it no worse than partly sunny, will be in the middle to upper 70s well inland with low and middle 70s Southern New Jersey and points south.
We will save the warmest day for Monday when the wind will still be from the east but it will be on the light side, and the warming air mass inland will take highs into the 80s just above everywhere away from the coast with no worse than partly sunny skies and no rain. Long range much of next week looks to be dry with little if any rain. Temperatures are likely to be on the warm side for next week.
