Weather models have been hinting around at the possibility of a strong ocean storm later next week and overnight model runs went down this road with the Euro model going down the road in a very big way. It carries along the same idea as yesterday’s model however last night’s run really wrapped up a monster low just offshore.

May Noreaster Threat Growing Euro Model Surface and Upper Air Next Thursday Night 8pm 5/5/2016
I t brings the entire upper support down into the Middle Atlantic states which takes the surface low from the Georgia coast and explodes it just offshore. Other models are not that far off. The Euro model and Canadian show similar depth. Positioning is a little different on all the models but they all seem to be going in this particular direction. We will wait for today’s runs of course to get a little deeper into this.
In the meantime sunshine and dry air have taken over today with rain coming late tonight into late Sunday afternoon. More on that on the local forecast and also the local forecast for Long Island.
By the way it should be noted that the full moon is coming Friday May 6th so if this is right, it could pose a serious tidal flooding situation. But lets see what later runs do.
