Maine Snow Storm Round 2 Wind
Maine Snow Storm Round 2 Wind
Another major storm is about to hit Manie and parts of New Hampshire but mostly Maine where 20 to 30 inches+ fell from yesterday’s monstrous storm. This would will be a little less intense because it develops overhead and doesn’t come from the south. This will probably be a 6 to 12 inch snowfall for much the same area and the second major in 3 days. We mention this because the pressure gradient here is going to tighten up again and we will see some strong gusty winds developing later Wednesday night into Thursday though they should not be of the magnitude of yesterday.
MAINE SNOW STORM ROUND 2 GFS FORECAST THURSDAY MORNING
The new developing storm is not going to be as fierce as yesterday’s which looked like a hurricane and still has a well defined coiling center that stands out on the satellite like a sore thumb. We can also see the next two weather systems with one dropping into the Great Lakes and the system in the southern stream. The north will be the dominant energy here and absorb the system in the south. Low pressure develops in the Gulf of Maine and we get a cold front tomorrow with a passing rain or snow shower.
SATELLITE LOOP
REGIONAL RADAR
Nothing much going on as far as the radars are concerned this morning other than a weak area of precipitation going by to our south. We will have no worse than partly sunny skies today with temperatures back into the 40s. Clouds and milder Wednesday with a passing rain or snow shower with highs in the 40s. Thursday will be windy and colder with some sunshine with highs in the 30s. Winds will gust to 30-40 mph at times but nothing extreme. Friday looks cold and dry and then temperatures head up for the weekend with some sunshine. We should reach the 50s on Sunday.
Longer term I think there will be one more pattern flip back to a colder look and I also believe there will be at least 2 chance for snow beginning the last few days of February and lasting into the first 10 days or so of March or perhaps a bit longer. We will explain this further later today.
