Long Island Gloom & Doom Spring Returns Friday Through Sunday
Before we address the gloom and doom outlook for Friday through the weekend we have 2 days with minimal issues. Today it is about a cold front moving through and that has turned our winds south. This will be a day of changeable sky conditions ranging from sun to clouds and the risk there could be some scattered showers around. The south wind means temperatures will struggle with highs mostly in the lower 60s away from the coast. The South Shore and East End will likely top out in the mid to upper 50s. Any showers should be light and scattered around.

The front passes through and high pressure will start to build into New England tonight and Thursday. That should put us in a good place with skies partially clearing tonight. Lows by morning will be mostly in the 40s. The dayside Thursday should start with some sunshine but as the day wears on the high will start to produce a southeast wind. That will mean cooler highs in the 50s to around 60. Some clouds may start to develop later in the day but they should increase Thursday night thanks to the marine flow off the ocean.
Friday through Sunday 2 storm systems are in play. Friday will be the first of 3 days of gloom and doom with lots of clouds, some light rain or drizzle, and highs in the mid to upper 50s. We will likely see a steadier rain develop as the first system moves east later Friday night into Saturday night. Showery rains are likely so it doesn’t rain straight through. However in between areas of rain we will likely see light rain or drizzle The east wind will make it a raw day with highs just in the low to mid 50s. Rain could end Saturday night creating a short break and then another round of rain is likely later Sunday and Sunday night. The track of the low will impact temperatures and for now we will lean to the idea that the onshore flow will hold and keep temperatures in the damp mid 50s east to lower 60s west. Weather conditions should improve Monday as this storm system moves away to the northeast.
