Showers Thunderstorms Saturday Night

Long Island begain to deal with ocean winds yesterday and that kept temperatures cool all day long. Today will be more of the same and this comes as areas well inland and west of Long Island will be reaching the 70s and 80s. The winds will be from the east or east southeast all day long and this is going to keep temperatures from getting out of the 60s this afternoon. Eastern Long Island and South Shore temperatures will be in the 50s all day. There should be plenty of sunshine however so at least the onshore flow is not producing any issues with low clouds and fog.

Radars are nice and quiet and they should remain so through the dayside Saturday. Look for low clouds with patchy fog and drizzle to develop overnight with lows in the 40s to around 50. Once that drizzle and fog burn off we should see some sunshine through clouds Saturday. Highs should reach the 60s except for 55 to 60 over the east end.

Saturday night into Sunday morning as a cold front passes we will see showers and possibly some thunderstorms. This front is slow moving and while the bulk of the showers and thunderstorms will  be done by daybreak, there could be some leftover showers over Eastern Long Island. Lows Sunday morning will be in the 50s. Sunday look for lots of leftover clouds around along with a leftover shower or two possible. Highs Sunday will be in a range of 60 to 65. Next week will be a cool one as blocking takes hold across North America. For Long Island that means below average temperatures all next week though for now the first half of the week looks to be dry.
