Long Island Cold Night & Friday Warmer Weekend Chance Showers Sunday
After a cold breezy day get set to turn the heat up in the house and bundle up if you are headed out. Skies are mostly clear on the satellite this evening and we will have a clear night. The core of this latest shot of cold air will be moving overhead tonight setting us up for lows Friday morning in the mid to upper teens. Winds will still be a little gusty this evening but they should begin to ease as we move through the night. The radar is nice and quiet and it now appears that it should remain nice and quiet through Saturday.
SATELLITE
WEATHER RADAR
High pressure will be right along the coast Friday bringing with it lots of sunshine. Temperatures should rebound to the middle and upper 30s during the afternoon. Friday night will be nice and clear and it won’t be as cold with most lows in the low to mid 20s though some cold spots could see lows down in the low teens.
Earlier this week, the weekend didn’t look particularly good but the next storm system in the plains tracks so far to our north that its effect on us will be limited. Saturday now actually looks okay with no worse than a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures will warm a bit but highs will probably be capped in the low to mid 40s which is close to average. Sunday a cold front approaches and moves through so we will have more clouds. However the front looks weaker as we draw closer. I will include the chance for a shower or two in the afternoon but it is conceivable that we may avoid showers altogether. Highs Sunday will be in the 50s to near 60. Next week a second low will move out of the lower Mississippi Valley. This low will track northeast to the Mid Atlantic states and pass near or just to our south. There is no cold air to speak of so it will be rain and that comes in later Monday into Tuesday.
