Lingering Rain Clouds Coastal Areas Some Sunshine Inland Week Ahead Outlook
We are watching a weak low this morning that is sitting off the New Jersey coast. It has produced a small area of rain that covers Eastern New Jersey, NYC Long Island, and extreme Southern New England. West of here we just have clouds that should break out into some sunshine as the day wears on.
This low is going to impact high temperatures. Where there will be more in the way of sunshine we will see highs reaching the upper 80s to near 90 as the map above shows for Pennsylvania and Maryland while to the northeast of there across New Jersey, the Hudson Valley and Southern New England in the upper 70s and lower 90s and ro Long Island highs will be in the low to mid 70s.
SATELLITE
The rain from the small low is pivoting eastward but it will likely get hung up over Long Island and Southern New England it may get enhanced again later this morning into early afternoon. West of this area radars will be quiet and we are not expecting any pop up showers or thunderstorms.
WEATHER RADAR
This low will begin to drift southeast tonight and Monday and a southwest flow will gradually take over. Look for a warm humid night with lows in the 60s to near 70. Monday we should see at least some sunshine everywhere though there could still be some morning low clouds along the coast. Highs will be in the 80s with warm spots inland reaching 90 degrees.
There are no changes in the outlook for the rest of this new week. Sunshine each day will take highs to the upper 80s and lower 90s. There is the chance for late day thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday inland and perhaps a bit more widespread Thursday and Friday as an upper trough and cold front approach. That front will bring a dry air mass for next weekend. Friday might be a day we encounter some severe weather risk and we will look at that chance as the week progresses.
