Late Summer Heatwave Begins Lasting into Thursday, No Rain Until Late Week
Much of the summer season we have not really streaks of more than 2 to 3 days consecutively with 90 degree high temperatures mainly due to the fact that hot weather patterns with high pressure ridges in the Eastern US have only been glancing visitis. The heat ridge this summer has stayed mainly across the southern half of the US. However this ridge is building in the east for the the first half of this week, bringing with it a string of 90 degree plus highs that could last into Thursday in Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England.

WEATHER RADAR
Today is day two of the Labor Day holiday weekend and it is going to be hot and it will also be more humid than the last few days. However the humidity levels will not come up to what I would regard as oppressive levels. We will see lots of sunshine, no showers or thunderstorms anywhere, and highs will reach into the lower 90s in many locations in Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England.
The ridge in the Eastern US means a rather stable atmosphere. Showers and thunderstorms will be virtually non existent until probably Thursday when an upper trough and cold front approach from the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. Monday is Labor Day and it will be a sunny hot and humid day with most highs in the low to even a few middle 90s.
Most of the records over the coming days are in the mid to upper 90s so they do seem a bit out of reach. Some stations may have some low hanging fruit so there could be the odd record high here and there. The 90 degree highs continue Tuesday and Wednesday with sunshine, hot and humid conditions. Highs will be in the low to middle 90s both days.
Thursday is probably the last day of 90 degree highs with an approaching cold front. It will also be the frist day of showers and thundertorm chances late in the day and into Thursday evening. Ahead of that we will see sunshine hot and humid conditions with highs in the low to mid 90s. Friday could see some lingering 90 degree highs as the cold front slowly makes its way east and it will bring with it a chance again for late showers and thunderstorms. The ridge in the Eastern US should break down last week and we should see temperatures trending closer to average next weekend.
