Kentucky Derby Brings Clouds Showers
The weekend starts off with just some minor improvement in that we don’t have heavy rains to deal with but we still have this blocked system here in the Northeastern US which is going to keep us in clouds and the possibility of some passing showers right through Sunday. At least the flow of deep tropical moisture is offshore so we are not dealing with another round of 2 to 3 inch rainfalls. Temperatures today will reach into the 60s. Some brief breaks of sun are possible both today and tomorrow but the cold unstable nature of the air mass will cause clouds to bubble up even if the sun breaks through.

As far as the showers are concerned it is quite possible that most of you won’t see one. But the threat remains and it must be included in the forecast. Sunday we will see temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 60s and Monday highs will just be in the mid to upper 50s area wide.
Today is the 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby for 3 year olds. The weather in Louisville calls for clouds and the chance for showers with temperatures in the 50s. The track was wet from yesterday but if showers stay away it could dry off a bit today. The turf course is likely to be soft.
