SUMMARY OF WATCHES AND WARNINGS IN EFFECT: A Hurricane Warning is in effect for... * Cape Verde Islands
Once the hurricane moves past the Cape Verde Islands it will begin to weaken and turn to the west with strong wind shear eventually ripping this storm apart. Nothing has changed in the overall upper air pattern across the Atlantic which creates a largely hostile environment for any tropical system as it tries to move across. This probably suggests that any tropical storms that are going to be threats need to develop west of 60 west and north of 20 N or in other words they need to be basically home grown systems. Right now there seems little chance of anything happening anytime soon.
