Humidity Starts to Climb Severe Weather Risks Interior Northeast Friday
Humidity Starts to Climb Severe Weather Risks Interior Northeast Friday
Changes lie ahead over the next two days. We have the core of the dry air mass along the East Coast moving offshore and east today. A cold front is making its way eastward across the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. This front reaches the coast Friday with showers and thunderstorms and severe weather risk for the interior Norttheast from Pennsylvania to Northwestern New England. We will have more on that shortly.
4 days of low humidity will be coming to an end today however it will still be tolerable as the humidity only rises slowly. Dew points will rise to the upper 50s and lower 60s which is still reasonable. We are also going to see sunshine for most of today with a south wind developing. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s Cloud cover from the next cold front are going well west and north today. There could be a scattered shower or thunderstorm well inland and west. Otherwise no rain is forecast. Showers and some thunderstorms are on the radar over Western and Northern NY and into Northern New England. This is where the main thunderstorm will occur today.

WEATHER RADAR
Humidity continues to rise overnight and temperatures will bottom in the mid 60s to low 70s in most places Friday morning. During the day Friday the cold front approaches so there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms into the afternoon with perhaps a more solid cluster of storm possible going into Friday evening.
This front will be moving east and offshore Friday night into early Saturday morning taking showers and thunderstorms out to sea. Friday highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s, kept down by clouds and a south wind. Showers showers will linger into Friday night but they will be long gone by Saturday morning.
We will see improvement Saturday with clouds in the morning and maybe some leftover humidity but we should see increasing amounts of sunshine as we move through the day. Humidity levels will drop somewhat however this shot of dry air behind the front is not quite the dry air mass that we just experienced. The southern push will likley not making it much further south than say southern Pennsylvania to Southern New Jersey/Delware. Northward into Upstate NY and New England it will be much drier.
Saturday high temperatures will be mostly in the upper 70s north of NYC into Southern New England and 80 to 85 south of Philadelphia. Sunday looks like a nice start to the day with sunshine though some clouds will likely arrive later in the day. Highs Sunday will be in the low to middle 80s and we will also start to see humidity rise again as we move through the day.
Monday brings a more vigorous cold front and this will mean warm and humid conditions with showers and thunderstorms developing later in the day. This front and upper trough that goes with it will likely produce severe weather risk across parts of the Northeast and Mid Atlantic. Dry air masses that follow cold fronts next week will bring glancing blows of Dry air into the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic along with warm temperatures. After Monday the next front with showers and thunderstorms will be next Thursday.
