Humberto Becomes A Hurricane Beautiful September Weather Ahead

Satellite pictures as well as Air Force Recon data this evening show that Humberto has become a hurricane. On the latest satellite picture we are beginning to see the hint of an eye forming. The Air Force plane also found winds of 64 knots or higher in a small band to the southeast of the center. Pressures have fallen to about 988 mb. Humberto is continuing to slowly gain latitude (moving northeast at 3 mph). Max winds are now 75 mph. Humberto is located about 750 miles west of Bermuda.

SATELLITE

A turn to the northeast or east northeast is expected on Monday as it begins to move away from the US coastline however rough seas and rip currents will continue to batter the Southeast coast from the Carolinas to Florida through midweek. Humberto is forecast to track east or east northeastward for at least a few days bringing it very close to Bermuda along about Wednesday night or Thursday.

Sunshine Sunday Another Front Monday Great Weather Tuesday Through Thursday

We on the other hand have one more warm day ahead of us with some sunshine on Monday. A cold front from the northwest will begin approaching  and it will move through later Monday afternoon or evening. There may be a shower or two scattered around with that front. Highs will reach the upper 70s to lower 80s. That high is going to build strongly along the East Coast and cool air from Eastern Canada will begin to move southward on Tuesday. Some sunshine returns Tuesday with highs in the low to mid 70s with a nice northeast breeze.

Sunshine Sunday Another Front Monday Great Weather Tuesday Through Thursday

The coolest air will arrive for Wednesday and Thursday with sunshine both days. Highs will be in the 60s to near 70 both Wednesday and Thursday with nighttime lows in the 50s and even some 40s in cool spots. The high to the north eventually settles to our south on Friday and into the weekend. An upper ridge along the East Coast will keep us protected from any rain right through the weekend and into next week.Humberto Becomes A Hurricane Beautiful September Weather Ahead

Humberto meanwhile may take a more northerly turn after nearing Bermuda as an upper low forms offshore. This might keep Humberto close enough to the coast to create rip currents and rough seas by us late this week however it still will be well offshore. Dry air sinking southward will keep our weather here calm and quiet. The outlook for Friday through Sunday will be for at least some sunshine each day and highs will be mostly in the 70s with nighttime lows in the 50s to lower 60s.
