HIGH WIND WARNING CONTINUES
Prompted by the wind gusts to 72 mph at White Plains and frequent gusts to 50 to 60 mph the National Weather Service posted a High Wind Warning into this evening for areas from Sandy Hook New Jersey northeastward including the Hudson Valley and much of Connecticut. Wind advisories are posted now for New Jersey Winds will continue to be strong into this evening.
Winds are forecast to begin dropping off tonight. The map above shows the wind gusts are all under 40 mph by 9pm and they will continue to diminish during the night. Skies should clear and temperatures are headed into the 20s.
The satellite loop shows the huge storm causing all this sitting off the coast just south of Nova Scotia. It will begin to move away to the east overnight and the pressure gradient will relax.

Tuesday looks to be sunny with much less wind and highs into the 40s. Wednesday will be milder with some clouds and the chance for a passing rain shower as a cold front moves through. There will be no storm threat for us but another intense storm will form off the coast of Maine Wednesday night and Thursday will be wind and cold though not as windy as today with some sunshine and highs in the 30s.
Long range looks dry into next week with some sunshine each day. Highs Friday will be in the 30s and then temperatures will rise into the 40s Saturday and the 50s on Sunday. No big storms are on the horizon through the middle of next week.
