Helene Meandering in the Ohio Valley While Clouds Continue To Drape

Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England

Helene is a remnant low that remains in the Ohio Valley today and through the weekend. While much of the moisture from Helene has been spent across the lower Ohio Valley to the Carolinas and that will continue to some extent today, clouds from this rather large system pushed northward yesterday. Combine this and an onshore flow and we will be dealing with cloudy conditions through the weekend. There are patches of rain on the radar and there will be some areas of rain, mostly on the light side.

When it isn’t raining it will just be cloudy with that gloom and doom feel to it. Temperatures today will likely be mostly in the low to middle 70s though it will be in the 60s along the shore and probably in the 60s while it is raining. Lots of clouds will be around tonight with patchy rain or just drizzle with most lows in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees.

Sunday we see more of the same with clouds around, occasional showers or passing areas of light rain. When it is not raining it will just be cloudy. High temperatures Sunday will be in the raw 60s for much of the area except South Jersey and points southward where we could see some highs reach 70 or a bit better.

The remnant low of Helene will linger into next week and won’t get kicked out to the east until a cold front drops down from Canada and moves eastward across the Great Lakes and Northeast midweek. Monday could see enough drying to allow perhaps for a few breaks of sunshine in the cloud cover but it will be short lived. High temperatures Monday will reach the lower 70s in most places but 60s will be the rule at the coast.

Monday night into Tuesday the remnant low of Helene finally exits off the Delaware coast and there will be an area of rain with that. Some of our region will see some rain or showers Monday night into Tuesday. The cold front will pass Wednesday with perhaps a few showers when it goes by and then we should finally dry out nicely and get rid of the onshore flow. That will bring some sunshine back late in the week with seasonal temperatures.
