HEAVY RAINS THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY 1 TO 2 INCHES
Weather models have been remarkably consistent for the last several days pointing to a heavy rain event for the Northeast & Middle Atlantic states beginning on Thursday and carrying over into Friday of this week. The developing blocking pattern in the North Atlantic is signalling a cool wet period of weather ahead. This weather system coming into the East could be hanging around for several days.

Afternoon weather models show another storm coming out of the Southern Plains and heading for the west side of the Appalachians late this week. There has been little change in the model placement of the storm. A strong southeast inflow of moisture sets up and the dynamics support a general 1 to 2 inch rain Thursday night into Friday afternoon.

The blocking comes into play this weekend into next week. Everything in the atmosphere comes to a grinding halt. This upper air system basically stalls out and rotates in the Eastern US and if it verifies, would mean the chance for showers through the weekend and into the first part of next week.
In fact if this block plays according to how both the European & GFS suggest, we could be dealing with clouds and rain through much of next week.
