Gloom & Doom Wednesday into Thursday & Later Saturday into Monday!
We are in the land of gloom & doom today. Low pressure is along the North Carolina coast and it is sliding very slowly to the east. Rain came up from the south overnight and has pushed its way northward up the Hudson Valley. The heaviest rain is along and off the New Jersey coast. We expect the rain shield will shift slowly to the east today so we could see rain become more showery in nature from west to east later this morning into this afternoon. In some places south and west of NYC it may just stop altogether. All this is under a cloudy sky with an onshore flow and most highs just into the 60

The big problem with this system is that we are in a time of year where everything slows down and the developing low offshore is likely to linger around tonight and Thursday. Some rain might even continue in Southern New England and Long Island tonight into Thursday morning while areas to the west see little in the way of rain. It certainly leaves us tonight and Thursday with lots of clouds regardless. Highs will be mostly in the 60s.
We may finally see a dry day Friday. This coastal low moves away to the east and weak high pressure builds between it and yet another low that is developing in the Southern Plains over the next 2 days. This low is going to wind up taking a similar track as today’s weather system. Low pressure moves across the lower Ohio Valley and then reforms near North Carolina dn then heads out to the east (albeit slowly).
Some sunshine should return Friday with highs in the 60s to around 70. Saturday we start getting back into an onshore flow but it is quite possible that the dayside Saturday winds up being a dry day with early sunshine followed by arriving clouds and the outside chance of some showers inland. Highs Saturday will be in the 60s. Sunday looks to be cloudy with some rain. There is some question about how far north the rain gets but for now we will have to certainly put it in the forecast. Highs Sunday will be probably in the upper 50s and lower 60s, especially if we get rain. The low could linger around into Monday morning before weather conditions begin to improve.
