Gloom & Doom Weather Into Friday Another Storm System Sunday into Monday

We are in a gloom and doom pattern but thankfully it won’t be raining every waking minute over the next couple of days. Overnight the first system which was a weak system is passing to the east and the satellite and radar showing that rain moving out. We may just spend the day in lots of clouds and the sun might even be able to poke through the clouds in some places. However we are setting up for more rain. Any lingering cold air is gone and highs teoday will mostly in the middle to upper 40s.

There are three rounds of precipitation that we will be dealing with in the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic. Warmer air will be moving northward and reach well into New England. Weather models show a wave of rain later tonight into Thursday and another wave of rain later Thursday into early Friday. None of these systems are significant rain producers so we don’t see much in the way of flooding issues. Rainfall amounts will be generally around an inch or so.

While this is all going on we are seeing temperatures on an uptrend over the next 2 days. We will see highs Thursday reach the 50s everywhere. There might be a short break in the rain early Thursday only to pick up again later in the day. The rain continues Thursday night but it should make it’s exit Friday morning as low pressure heads out to the east.

Initially the air behind this system is warm and we will have to wait until Friday night and Saturday for cooler air to arrive. We will for sky conditions to slowly improve Friday with clouds giving way to some sunshine. Temmperatures Friday will be quite warm for this time of year. Highs will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s and depending on how much sun, there could be a little upside here.

Saturday we will start to see temperatures ease and that will continue over the weekend. This is also the better of the two weekend days. This long train of low pressure areas moving through will culminate with the last storm system of the series coming out of the Southern Plains and moving across the Appalachians and then off the coast of Delaware and New Jersey Sunday night into Monday.

Look for sunshine to give way to arriving clouds Saturday with highs back in the low to mid 40s. Sunday look for rain from Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England with highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Snow will likely fall across Upstate New York and into interiror New England. We could see some colder air come into the mix Sunday night into Monday but this is highly speculative at this point.
