Frosty Morning Warmer Afternoon Week Ahead Outlook & Tropics

This morning many areas away from warmer urban centers experienced their first frosts ending the growing season once and for all. Clear skies and light winds overnight night sent some areas down to the upper 20s and lower 30s. Warmer urban centers remained mostly in the 40s. Now we move along to another nice day of sunshine and temperatures should bounce this afternoon reaching into the 60s in most locations. Overall it is a nice finish to the weekend. Radars are quiet today with no precipitation echos.

We have a southwest flow beginning later today and that will keep nighttime temperatures higher as will some arriving clouds. The next cold front will be pushing eastward. Temperatures overnight will settle in the mid 40s to lower 50s and there shouldn’t be any frost issues.
This week looks to be a quiet and mostly dry week. While we do have three weather fronts approaching over the next several days, the showers with them weaken and fall apart long before they reach Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. The result will be that each day this week will feature varying amounts of clouds and sun with highs in the 60s each day. Perhaps some spots could approach 70 on some days.
What is happening in the upper atmosphere is an upper high that is building east west ito the Southeastern US and pushing northward. It will be cradling a subtropical or tropical storm that will be approaching Bermuda to the south while deflecting cold fronts to the west and north that weaken as they move into higher pressures. The high also helps to keep things dry all week and unless a stray shower sneaks in, it should be quiet. The next front that will make it here with showers will probably come next Monday. Another tropical storm could develop in the Northwest Caribbean and it has been one that weather models have been showing for the last 10 days and weather chatterers on social media have played up for all sorts of apocalyptic outcomes. Yes it is 2020 but overnight we see that models have lost the idea of a hurricane moving up the coast and show that anything that forms in the Northwest Caribbean could get trapped there. We suggest that until there is something that develops, we will focus attention on what is actually there and not what could be. Enjoy your Sunday.
