COLD AIR HIGHS JUST IN THE 40S TODAY
FROST FREEZES LIKELY FRIDAY MORNING
MORE COLD AIR ARRIVES SUNDAY
The cold shot advertised has arrived. We have gusty winds, temperatures in the 30s and wind chills in the 20s this morning. Certainly it is a bundle up type of morning around here and high temperatures today will not be going very far at all with high just in the 40s. This is going to set us up for a widespread frost and freeze tonight. We will have a good deal of sunshine today and clear skies tonight with light winds. Except for the warmer urban locations where lows should stay above freeze most lows tonight will be in the upper 20s and lower 30s and hence the frost and freeze advisories and warnings that have been posted.
The strong northwest flow is evident on the satellite loops with winds crossing the great lakes and some streaming moisture moving southeastward. We aren’t seeing much in lake effect going on today and this should all relax as the day wears on .
EASTERN SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
The weather pattern continues where we see short sub par warm ups in between cold air masses and the next sub par warm up begins Friday with sunshine and highs back into the 50s. The warm up continues into Saturday before the next cold front moves through. The first front arrives early Saturday morning with the chance for a few showers Friday night. Then the second front arrives late Saturday with perhaps another shower. Temperatures could nudge into the 60s briefly Saturday before the next cold shot arrives for Sunday.
Sunday and Monday will be cold with some sunshine with highs both days mostly in the 40s. The cold pattern continues next week with another cold front arriving late Tuesday with another shot of colder air thought Sunday’s shot seems to be the strongest of the sequence so far. Long range continues to signal some sort of storm system for the East Coast late next week or next week but models are all over the place with this. We will take a closer look at this later today.
