Frigid Temperatures Wind Chill
The arctic cold has arrived and temperatures have settled into the 20s and that is where they will stay all day tonight with a strong wind from the northwest. With winds gusting to 40 mph wind chills will be down in the single digits today. The satellite loop shows the strong northwest flow from Canada as clouds swing from west to east. We can also see the beginnings of clouds in the Rockies which are the forerunners of the storm system for the weekend.
There could be snow showers from time to time today and some places could get the ground whitened up. Then it is down to low teens and single digits tonight and highs only into the 20s on Friday. Friday we will see sunshine begin to give way to arriving afternoon clouds.
Friday night (after midnight) into Saturday morning it will be accumulating snow that eventually changes to rain by mid morning. There were no big changes in the model runs overnight so I feel very comfortable with my forecast for snow.
