THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON NY HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR... SOUTHEASTERN BERGEN COUNTY IN NORTHEASTERN NEW JERSEY... HUDSON COUNTY IN NORTHEASTERN NEW JERSEY... KINGS COUNTY IN SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK... QUEENS COUNTY IN SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK... NEW YORK COUNTY IN SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK... BRONX COUNTY IN SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK... * UNTIL 1230 AM EDT * AT 934 PM EDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED HEAVY RAIN ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. UP TO ONE INCH OF RAIN IN LESS THAN AN HOUR IS LIKELY WITH THIS STORM. FLASH FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN SHORTLY. RAINFALL OF 2 TO 3 THREES WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THE WARNED AREA.
Radar is showing heavy rains moving southeastward from Northeast New Jersey into New York City. Flash Flood Warnings have been extended eastward. An additional 2 to 3 inches of rain will fall. Some areas in Northern New Jersey have already received 4 or more inches of rain so flooding will be extensive. It is possble that the warnings could be extended eastward into Western Long Island and Southwest Connecticut.
Heavy rains continue in the Hudson Valley as well where 4 or more inches of rain has fallen in some areas.
