The approaching cold front is on schedule and radars are loading up with a growing area of heavy downpours with embedded thunderstorms. This has caused the National Weather Service to post Flash Flood Watches for Northeastern New Jersey, NYC, Long Island, Hudson Valley & Connecticut. To the south in Central & South Jersey the Heat Advisory and the Excessive Heat Warning continues on a hot and very humid afternoon as temperatures are in the low to middle 90s.
FLASH FLOOD WATCH NAM RAINFALL FORECAST
Trying to forecast rainfall amounts in a situation like this is a challenge. The NAM model shows 2 to 3 inches of rain over a wide area in the Flash Flood Watch zone and it probably has the best representation of the rainfall over the next 36 hours.
