FIOS1 NEWS WEEKEND SPRING FORECAST
The weekend is underway and we have a beautiful Saturday with plenty of sunshine and temperatures heading up through the 50s to near 60 in some areas. Along the shore some local sea breezes will develop but they should hold off until mid or late afternoon so temperatures at the shore will probably drop back into the 40s. Just letting you know in case you are tempted to take a shore stroll today. The Islip record today is 54 so it wont take much to break that.

The satellite loop shows the warm front moving through and offshore coastal New England. We are in good shape into Sunday morning before a cold front drops through and we start to see an increase in cloud cover.

Late afternoon and Sunday evening a bit of rain will be moving through as a wave goes by to our south. One thing that has changed with this is that the wave is moving through about 6 to 8 hours faster than what we saw on models 2 days ago. This means that precipitation gets here before the atmosphere is cold enough to produce snow. The European argues for at most a coating to an inch if there is precipitation still around after 1 am when the atmosphere begins to turn cold enought. Based on that and the NAM i don’t think this is going to do anything of consequence.
Longer term there is no doubt that a major storm is going to develop and it appears to me that the models are shifting west. It appears to be a 2 part event with a lead low late Tuesday and the main event later Wednesday and Wednesday night. I will cover this in a separate post shortly
