Finally Some Sunshine Solar Eclipse Weather Looks Good

Another Rain Wind Storm Later This Week

Finally we have a day where the satellite loops show most of the clouds to the east and offshore. This leaves us with the best day of the weekend and Sunday with sunshine. We are at the time of year where temperatures will tend to snap back given a chance with enough sun and today is one of those days. Highs this afternoon will be in the mid to upper 50s. Radars are nice and quiet for a change and we expect them to stay quiet for a couple of days.

Low pressure in the Plains states is moving northeast to the Western Great  Lakes and will be weakening rather rapidly tonight and Monday. This at least keeps precipitation away as most of the rain ahead of the low falls apart. However there will be high clouds that will stream eastward for Monday and weather models indicate more in the way of high clouds moving across parts of the Northeast Monday. However the cloud thickness is very low so while clouds may dim the sunshine, it should not make it disappear completely.

Monday at least will be a dry day with high clouds and sunshine with highs reaching the 60s for the first time in over a week. We will hold  on to the dry air into Tuesday but we are going to begin to watch low pressure developing in the Western Gulf States. This low is the next storm system coming into the Eastern US. High pressure meanwhile locks in for Tuesday but gradually gives way to the east allowing lead moisture to run up the Eastern US.

With enough sunshine Tuesday and a not so unfavorable wind, temperatures will likely reach into the 70s away from the ocean. Then we will see clouds move in Tuesday night and Wednesday we could see some showers around with a south wind and highs in the 50s to around 60. Heavier rain an stronger winds are forecast to move in later Thursday into early Friday as low pressure heads up the west side of the Appalachians. As long as everything moves along we should see improving weather conditions going into next weekend.
