Enjoy Nice Weather Now Gloom Doom Rain Late Week And Weekend

We continue to be under the influence of low pressure in Eastern Canada and that is creating a cold and unstable atmopshpere aloft. It is a little less unstable today so we will see a fair amount of sunshine. I would expect some clouds to develop later in the day much like we saw yesterday. Tempertures today will reach the upper 50s to lower 60s which is cooler than average. There could be a few widely scattered spotty showers that pop up this afternoon but my guess is most folks won’t see much.

This blocking pattern we are in is allowing weather systems to move along in the northern part of the flow. After a chilly night tonight into Wednesday morning with lows in the mid 30s to lower 40s, we will see sunshine give way to arriving clouds Wednesday afternoon. Highs Wednesday will be in the low to mid 60s.

Late Wednesday afternoon and evening a cold front will approach and pass and there could be some scattered showers with that front as it goes by. Then we begin the process of what I will refer to as descending into the abyss but it will be a slow decent. The front passes offshore and high pressure begins to build in for Thursday.

At least initially the high will be in a favorable position to bring us nice weather and that is what we will go for Thursday. Skies should be partly to mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 60s, 50s along east and south facing shore lines along the coast. Then the high as the European loop shows, moves into Labrador/Canadian Maritimes and that will start the onshore flow process. Low pressure meanwhile will be moving across the South and Southeast with rain and that rain should lift northward to bring rain. The northern edge reaches Southern New England so we will see rain Friday night into Saturday. The first low will move out and leave us with lots of clouds for later Saturday and Sunday. Then we will deal with a stronger storm system for late Sunday into Monday and with this we could see a windswept soaking rain. While all this is going in temperatures will be in the 50s to near 60 much of the time. Between the two weather systems we could see 2 to 3 inches of total rainfall for much of Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. This blocking pattern we are in continues next week and below average temperatures continue until further notice.
